LeEco is one of the most talked-about Chinese smartphone manufacturers lately. This company has been around for quite some time now, but they did not start making smartphone until April last year. LeEco’s lineup consists out of a number of devices now, and they really do have some compelling offerings in their lineup. In a short time span, LeEco started not only selling their devices in China, but also in a number of other areas around the world through their letvmart.com official webstore.
That being said, LeEco seems really serious when it comes to the smartphone business, they currently have a 28.9% stake in Coolpad, after they purchased another 11% stake a couple of days ago. LeEco’s CEO, Jia Yueting, is actually Coolpad’s chairman now, and the two companies are planning to introduce a smartphone together, and it will be called ‘Cool 1’. This smartphone will be announced on August 16th, and TENAA’s listing already revealed its specifications, while some additional real life images surfaced quite recently as well. The Cool 1 smartphone will sport a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. This smartphone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC, while the Adreno 530 also comes with this SoC, and is in charge of graphics rendering. The 13-megapixel dual camera setup will be placed on the back of the Cool 1, while you’ll be able to find a 5-megapixel snapper up front. The 3,500mAh battery is also a part of this package, and the battery is not removable. The fingerprint scanner will also be included here, and as you can see in the provided image down below, it will be located below the rear-facing camera sensors, while the dual-LED, dual tone flash will also be a part of this package. The Cool 1 smartphone will be made out of metal it seems, though we’re still not sure if the company plans to combine metal with plastic, or will this be a metal unibody handset.
Now, according to rumors, the best thing about this smartphone will be its price, despite the fact it comes with the Snapdragon 820 SoC and 4GB of RAM, rumors claim that it will cost less than 1,999 Yuan ($301), which would be a killer price point for such a handset. Either way, the device will land in a couple of days, so stay tuned.
