The present owner’s father was a collector and this is his showcase. His taste is wonderfully eclectic, with an eye for unlikely combinations. In the first floor reception - with opera playing in the background - majolica face-jars stand amongst leather-bound volumes. Beyond, contemporary ceramics mix with classical busts, antique tables, large urns, painted cupboards, orchids and lush green pot plants. On the walls, prints vie with 20th-century painting, gilt mirrors, wood panels and patches of dramatic leafy wallpapers. And it works!
