If you own an Android-powered smartwatch running the latest Android Wear 2.0 update, you might want to think again before updating it to the latest available patches that Google recently released.
Wondering why? Well, it looks like some users have started reporting issues with the Google Assistant personal intelligent assistant, which Google implemented in Android Wear 2.0 major update earlier this year. They say that Google Assistant no longer works correctly after they've updated their smartwatch devices to the latest patches that Google released on Thursday, saying that it can only be used for doing simple Internet searches via Google search.
"I have a Fossil Q Founder 2.0 watch. In the beginning Google Assistant worked flawlessly," reports user jdsullivan21 on Google's Android Wear Help Forum. "On Thursday of this week I noticed that it would no longer control my home automation setup (smart things). On Friday I noticed that it couldn't set a simple 2-minute timer any longer."
Google still working on fixing bug that marks recurring reminders as completed
We usually recommend our readers to update their devices to the latest available security patches, but, in this case, you should hold back from updating your smartwatch running Android Wear 2.0, as Google is still struggling to fix bugs in the OS, such as the one that automatically marks recurring reminders as completed, which users reported since early June 2017.
Apparently, Google is aware of these issues, and they're working on fixing them, along with many others, but there's no telling when they'll be patched. Right now, you're better off if you don't update your Android Wear 2.0-powered smartwatch, and wait until Google releases a proper patch that addresses said bugs. Rest assured that we'll let you know as soon as that happens.
